Sand tin tailings refer to the mixture of tin containing minerals and impurities such as sand and gravel left after flotation, gravity separation and other processes in the tin ore beneficiation process. In order to improve the recovery rate of tin and reduce environmental pollution, it is necessary to further treat the tin tailings from sand selection. This article will introduce the process flow of selecting sand tin tailings.
1、 Flotation
Flotation is the first step in the treatment of sand tin tailings, with the aim of separating tin containing minerals from impurities such as sand and gravel. During flotation, xanthate, black powder and other agents are generally used as collectors to float tin containing minerals with foam, and then foam and liquid are separated by scraper or centrifuge to obtain tin containing foam concentrate.
2、 Reselection
Gravity separation is the second step after flotation, with the aim of further improving the grade of tin containing minerals. In the process of gravity separation, the heavy medium separation method is generally adopted. The tin containing foam concentrate is mixed with the heavy medium to make the tin containing minerals settle to the bottom of the heavy medium, and then the heavy medium is separated from the tin containing minerals through equipment such as vibrating screen or cyclone to obtain the concentrate of tin containing minerals.
III. Magnetic Separation
Magnetic separation is the third step after gravity separation, which aims to remove magnetic impurities such as iron minerals from the concentrate. In the magnetic separation process, weak or medium magnetic field magnetic separators are generally used to place the concentrate in the magnetic field. Magnetic impurities are adsorbed on the magnetic pole, while non magnetic tin containing minerals flow through the magnetic pole to obtain tin containing mineral concentrate that removes magnetic impurities.
4、 Leaching
Leaching is the fourth step after magnetic separation, with the aim of dissolving tin from tin containing minerals. In the leaching process, alkaline solutions such as sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide are generally used as the leaching agent, and the concentrate is placed in the leaching tank. After a certain time of leaching, the leaching solution is separated from the solid to obtain the leaching solution containing tin.
5、 Electrowinning
electrowinning is the final step after leaching, with the aim of reducing tin from the leaching solution containing tin to metallic tin. In the process of electrowinning, a lead plate is generally used as the cathode, and the leaching solution containing tin is used as the electrolyte. After being electrified, the metal tin is reduced on the lead plate to obtain pure metal tin.
In summary, the process flow of selecting sand tin tailings includes five steps: flotation, gravity separation, magnetic separation, leaching, and electrowinning. Through the treatment of these technological processes, tin containing minerals in the tailings can be separated, improving the recovery rate of tin and reducing environmental pollution.
